Valyrian Steel & the Swords of Westeros

In Westeros a sword is a house’s history made steel. Valyrian blades — rippled, impossibly light, forged with magic lost when Valyria fell — pass down bloodlines and change the fates of the families who hold them.

The Stark blades

Ice, the ancestral greatsword of House Stark, opens the entire saga in Ned Stark’s hands — and is later melted down into two blades, one of which becomes Oathkeeper, carried by Brienne of Tarth. Longclaw, the bear-turned-wolf pommelled sword of House Mormont, is given to Jon Snow and becomes the most recognised blade of the series.

The Targaryen blades

Blackfyre was the sword of Aegon the Conqueror himself, and Dark Sister the blade of his sister-queen Visenya — paired weapons of the conquest, seen again in House of the Dragon in the hands of Daemon Targaryen.

Game of Thrones Sword FAQs

What is Jon Snow’s sword called?
Longclaw — the ancestral Valyrian steel sword of House Mormont, given to Jon by Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, who had the bear pommel recarved as a white direwolf. We build it in two versions, including a premium Damascus steel edition whose rippled blade echoes Valyrian steel.
What happened to Ice, Ned Stark’s sword?
Ice was the ancestral greatsword of House Stark. After Ned’s death it was melted down and reforged into two smaller blades — one of which, Oathkeeper, was eventually given to Brienne of Tarth. Both Ice and Oathkeeper are in this collection.
What are Dark Sister and Blackfyre?
The paired Valyrian blades of the Targaryen conquest — Blackfyre carried by Aegon the Conqueror, Dark Sister by Queen Visenya and later Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon.
Are the swords sharp?
No — these are display collectibles with unsharpened edges. You must be 18 or over to purchase, and every sword order is age-verified.
Where can I buy Game of Thrones swords in the UK?
