The Story of the Dark Katana Lightsaber With Exposed Kyber core – Dark Katana Saber
The Dark Katana is one of our own signature designs — the weapon a fallen samurai of the Outer Rim might carry. A blackened, tsuka-styled grip flows into a guard-less emitter, and through the heart of the hilt runs an exposed kyber core that glows with the blade. It is a fusion of two warrior traditions, machined from 6063 aircraft-grade aluminium in our Lincolnshire workshop.

The Exposed Core
Most sabers hide their crystal. The Dark Katana bares it — a glowing channel through the grip that pulses with the blade colour, turning the hilt itself into part of the ignition.
The Ronin Aesthetic
Every line of the hilt follows the katana: the long two-handed grip, the subtle collar where a tsuba would sit, the clean sweep into the emitter. Lit or unlit, it reads as a swordsman’s weapon.
Built for the Draw
The balance point sits low, exactly where a katana’s would, making draw-and-strike motions feel natural. It is the closest a saber comes to iaijutsu.
History of the Saber
The Dark Katana grew out of our katana saber line — an answer to one question: what would a samurai’s saber look like if it fell to the dark side? The exposed core came from our workshop’s love of showing the engineering rather than hiding it, and it quickly became one of our most popular unique designs.
Combat Style
A katana-style saber rewards two-handed, cutting styles over point work — long, committed strokes and fast draws. The extended grip gives leverage that standard hilts can’t match, and the low balance point keeps heavy cuts controlled.
