RGB vs Xenopixel / Neopixel

RGB (baselit) sabers light the blade from a single LED in the hilt, offering a wide range of colours and solid effects at the best value, and the most impact-resistant build for duelling. Xenopixel and Neopixel sabers use a strip of individually-lit LEDs inside the blade for ultra-bright, uniform illumination and advanced effects. See our electronics guide and buyer’s guide.

The Story of the Mace Windu SE

The Mace Windu SE is our Special Edition take on the most distinctive hilt in the Jedi Order — the same purple blade and the same unmistakable profile, with simplified detailing that brings the price down without changing what the saber actually is. Machined from 6063 aircraft-grade aluminium, with your choice of board from RGB through to Proffie.

Famous Battles & Moments

The Colour Nobody Else Gets

Every other Jedi on screen carries blue or green. Mace Windu alone carries purple — which means this silhouette is recognised instantly, by anyone, at any distance.

Second Only to Yoda

Windu sat at the head of the Jedi Council through the Republic’s final years — the Order’s champion and its most feared duellist. The hilt was built to reflect that standing.

An Actor’s Request

Purple exists because Samuel L. Jackson wanted to spot himself in the Geonosis crowd. Lucas agreed — and one request created the rarest blade colour in the saga.

History of the Saber

The original hilt carries an electrum finish, a distinction reserved for the most senior members of the Council. The Mace Windu SE keeps that profile and proportion while simplifying the finish work — the shape and stance are unchanged, the machining is less intricate, and the saving is passed on.

Combat Style

Windu’s form was built on relentless forward pressure rather than defence, and the hilt suits it — clean balance, nothing ornamental getting in the way of the grip. The SE handles identically to the standard version. If you plan to duel properly, take an RGB board: the LED sits in the hilt, so there’s nothing inside the blade to break on a hard clash.

Why Collectors Want It

There is exactly one purple blade in the Jedi Order, and this is it. The Mace Windu SE exists for people who want that blade in their hands rather than behind glass — a first Mace, a duelling saber, or a cosplay piece you won’t wince about scuffing. If you want the closest possible match to the screen prop for close-up display, the Ultra Realistic Mace Windu is the one to take.

Nobody at an event inspects emitter grooves. But if you know you’d notice, get the standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s different about the Mace Windu SE?
Simplified detailing on the grip and emitter, at a lower price. The silhouette, the purple blade and the board options are the same as the standard version.

Is the SE still duel-ready?
Yes — same duel-rated polycarbonate blade and reinforced chassis. For heavy contact, choose an RGB board.

Why is Mace Windu’s lightsaber purple?
Samuel L. Jackson asked for a colour that would stand out in the Geonosis battle. It became canon, and no other Jedi has carried one on screen since.

Can I change the blade colour?
Yes on most boards. Purple is fitted as standard, and both RGB and pixel boards allow colour changes from the hilt.

Should I buy the SE or the standard Mace?
SE for using — duelling, cosplay, events, or a first purple saber. Standard for close-up display accuracy.
