The Sword of Grayskull
“By the power of Grayskull” is one of the most recognised lines in television — and it is addressed to a sword. The Power Sword is the conduit between Prince Adam and the power of Castle Grayskull, the object on which the entire mythology turns.
The transformation
Raised skyward, the sword calls down the power that transforms Adam into He-Man — the sequence that opened every episode and defined the series. The blade is broad and unadorned, closer to a tool of power than a duelling weapon, with the distinctive cross-hilt and ringed pommel.
The two halves
In the earliest Masters of the Universe canon the Power Sword was two halves — one held by good, one by evil — and only joined could it unlock Castle Grayskull. It is a detail collectors love, and part of why the sword remains the centre of the franchise across every reboot since 1982.
